Not just the work you can do, but the work you were made for.

A weekly reflection on work, calling, and the discipline that makes freedom possible.

Most people are better at their work than they are sure of it. They can do the job, often impressively; what they cannot always say is whether the job is theirs. The Working Rule exists for that question.

The name comes from an old idea: a life gains force the way a river does, not by spreading in every direction but by having banks. A rule, in the older sense of the word, was never a list of restrictions. It was a shape for a life, a structure that turned scattered effort into direction. Our working lives deserve the same kind of shape, and most of us were never taught how to build one.

Coaching and consulting

The Working Rule also takes the form of one-on-one coaching, for people who want to understand not only what they are good at but what those talents are actually for, and consulting for teams and organizations ready to ask those same questions together.
